Do You Want To Get Out Of Debt

The world is in financial meltdown and the driver for this has to be placed at the door of debt. Personal debt, corporate debt, government debt and global debt, in fact we owe so much it is hard to believe we allowed ourselves to get into this position. For some people their income can manage the repayments. For others their incomes do not cover all the expenses and those debts are rising to ever more unaffordable levels.

World financial wobbles have raised the horror of collapsing economies and the resultant pain and poverty that will inevitably follow. There is no time to be lost. You simply have to set your affairs in order. Number one, grab all the families credt cards and make them dissappear or simply burn them. They are way too easy to use and build huge credit card debt. Then make a list of all your debts. Put those with the highest interest rate charges first. Determine the lowest amount that needs to be paid off each debt every month.

Now work on the new budget. Write down your monthly expenses. Do not forget to make a monthly allowance for those periodic payments like rates and insurances. Study your budget and take out all non vital items such as meals out magazine subscriptions. Remove all that is not really necessary for day to day living. If there is money left over after this you can look at reinstating some of those thingsĀ at a later date.

Compare outgoingsĀ  to income and hopefully, this will now show a surplus. If it is a surplus use the money to pay off the debt that attracts the highest interest rate. Now we have the first one paid off you can get the next biggest rate hog and pay that one paid off. your surplus should now be improving every month so you could now think about reconnecting cable or reinstating some other membership.

If you are still in trouble after doing your budget you may need to look at consolidating your debt into one single loan at a more friendly rate of interest. Look around to find the best rates. This may prove difficult but keep trying. If all else fails, try finding a better job that pays better money or look at finding a part time job to do at weekends or at night. Perhaps you could live with family until things improve.

There are always things you can do, maybe you just need to look outside the square but you must make a start on reducing the debt. Action needs to be taken before things will improve. Break the credit card habit right now and commit to a budget that will work for you.
