Retirement Wealth Requires An Idea
In the first installment of this series I spoke about how important VISION was to creating lasting retirement wealth. It is the first step of five.
The next step is the IDEA.
What is it that you are going to do to reach your retirement vision? You need an idea about how to generate lasting income that you personally control that is immune to the ups and downs of the economy and that you can manage from anywhere in the world.
‘Sounds like a tall order doesn’t it.
Well, it is easier and harder than you may think.
Easier part – the mechanics of creating a lasting income that you personally control and manage from anywhere in the world is easy. Start, run and grow an online, information marketing business. As long as you have a lap top with an Internet connection, or access to an Internet café somewhere in the world, you can effectively manage your business.
Hard part – the hard part is picking what to sell. I have read, participated in and tried dozens of programs (some of them costing thousands of dollars) that suggest you:
- Pick any topic people desire to know about and sell that, or
- Pick a topic you are personally knowledgeable about, that you genuinely like and sell that
I prefer #2 to start. Here’s why.
You are going to be spending a lot of time learning how to start your business, grow it and market your product or service. I think it is easier to do that with something you already know about and like.
HOW you do that is the topic of a future article. For now, focus on the concept that you need an idea that you are going to be happy with, comfortable working on for months and even years ahead – during your retirement. Right?
Before you shout out the same thing everyone else says – “But I’m not an expert at anything…”, this isn’t about being an expert at anything. It is about selecting an idea or topic you like. The key thing to remember is that YOU may not feel you are an expert, your family, neighbors and co-workers may not, but that isn’t your market. When you have an online information marketing business, your market is the WORLD! And I’ll bet there are people in the world that know less than you about a lot of stuff you know.
Selecting that IDEA is the second key to retirement wealth.
